Chopin: Etude Op 10 #9
on: June 25, 2016, 06:06:58 PM
Hi friends.
I brought this piece back a couple of hours ago for a quick audition tape for a camp at the University of Oregon this summer.
Let me know what you all think!
Cheers!

I'm sure it is eeegggsellent.  I know how you play. I'll listen to it later but I give you props for dishing out an etude that can garner much criticism due to its musicality.  I'm sure you nailed it.

All in all really well played. Love your enthusiasm and passion for this piece. One really needs to feel utter passion in order to play this , it doesn't work if played as an exercise or as a means to show off but you did bc you love it and want to share it.
I am very particular to this etude on how it should sound or played but it is a matter of personal taste. I can talk to you later on chat brudda!!!!

There are many fine ideas which you have presented here, and it is clear that you have a vision of the piece.  IMO, I think you are trying to do a little too much here and it is preventing you from establishing the flow of the piece.  Try scaling back the dynamic variation in the LH, not remove it all together, just a bit less, in order that the tune can come to the foreground more.

Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

Very nice! :) Enjoyed it a lot.
I like how you pay attention to detail and dynamic variation.
