VIDEO: A Charming Chopin Waltz
on: July 02, 2016, 08:36:45 AM
Hi everyone, I just uploaded a video of me playing a Chopin Waltz.

I quite enjoy playing this little piece and I'm going to work on two more small Waltzes in future before moving on to the main body of them.

Very nicely done. I might have used slightly less rubato, but we all have a different sense of that quality.
Thanks for posting.

Thanks Theme, I know that in some people's eyes I may go too far with rubato but this piece, I think, benefits from a little unorthodoxy to spice it up.

Thanks mjames! It's not my first Chopin, but it is my first Waltz of his, hopefully the first of many :)

Not bad. Personally, I'd work on the balance a bit more, but your melody is shaped very well.
Cheers!

Oh, and a side note; there are several spots where you play forte to bring emphasize something. In Chopin, it's important to emphasis spots, but do the opposite to achieve this; bring people's ears in by going to pp instead of fff.
