Remembering the great Maurizio Pollini
Legendary pianist Maurizio Pollini defined modern piano playing through a combination of virtuosity of the highest degree, a complete sense of musical purpose and commitment that works in complete control of the virtuosity. Auckland's climate has certainly become warmer since I was a boy. Twenty years ago we planted a banana tree - correctly it's a shrub really I suppose - and had many hearts of bananas from it every year. We have since removed it but there was no way bananas would grow in Auckland fifty years ago. However, much to my wife's annoyance, it is still not warm enough to grow mangos, which she loves.

And yet funnily enough, last August brought the first snow in Auckland for many decades. I was sitting staring out the window and wondered what was causing the peculiar, slow-falling rain outside. Then later I read in the paper that snow had fallen in the local park and realised what it was.

I can't do that, but I can solve a Rubik's cube while skating!  If that compensates for anything.

I friend of mine tried filming me solving a cube while doing a line and it resulted in the destruction of his 300 dollar, brand new, day old fish eye lens.  Don't look at me, it wasn't entirely my fault, but we both felt extra salty!   ::) :-X ::) :-X

I don't see Ms Lisitsa in this picture; do I need to adjust my spectacles or is there some other explanation?...

Actually when that picture was taken, I cut my left pinky pretty bad.  I wasn't able to play piano with it for like two weeks.  that's why my pinky is curled up in the photo.  My tape fell off, and extending it all the way would open the would again.

No but yeah, I don't wear any hand pads.  As long as you knhow what you're doing, you should be okay.

I remember I was bombing a hill on my friends longboard in Wisconson over the summer, and I got a freaking speed wobble!  They're soooooo freaking scary, it feels like you're about to die!  I'm so lucky that I was able to ride it out of it because I didn't have any pads or anything, and I would've had REALLY bad road rash!

I almost died soooooo hard dude!

No but yeah, I wanna start long boarding for real.  Except I'm gonna be WAY more cautious this time.  I'm gonna by myself a freaking motorcycle suit!

This advertisement, which arrived in our letterbox this morning, took my fancy for some reason. It looks as if the only thing the cat would like to embrace is the photographer's head, with claws extended.

i was feeling nostalgic for two of my favorite anime from a long time ago. so i put together pdf files with concept art from them.

old school, a couple came out really great with high resolution the rest are grainy, images are super hard to find (it's sorta old now), and i think only realizations or transfer from the closing credits are out and about, did the best i could w these, hand drawn
outlaw star (the actual closing credits w the theme music is on yt. the 1st one is my favorite with melfinas lullaby)

studio gainax
newer (digital art), including evangelion. the christmas one is my desktop wallpaper right now
