These pieces often remained unpublished; when this is the case they are catalogued as \u201cWoO\u201d (Werke ohne Opuszahl), \u201cworks without opus numbers\u201d. For the piano student, these pieces are of course of great value. They offer the opportunity to get a taste of Beethoven\u2019s piano writing, and can function as a preparation for larger works like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pianostreet.com\/beethoven-sheet-music\/sonatinas\/\">sonatinas<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pianostreet.com\/beethoven-sheet-music\/variations\/\">variations<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pianostreet.com\/gurlitt-sheet-music\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/search\/images_tn\/composers\/gurlitt.jpg\" title=\"Cornelius Gurlitt - piano music\" class=\"alignright\" width=\"140\" \/><\/a><strong>Cornelius Gurlitt<\/strong> was perhaps a lesser genius than Beethoven, but a genius nevertheless.
