The choice of venue rhymes well with Levit\u2019s chosen works which are a mix between both the spiritual and the secular. The elaboration on life take different forms but will not offer an answer &#8211; rather a human contemplation and search for the eternal. Thus, Levit\u2019s journey of styles and moods offers a wealth of discoveries.<\/p>\n<p>Every piece Igor Levit has chosen travels a spiritual path from the earthly to the hereafter. Each work questions the ultimate realities in its own way. Some picks: <\/p>\n<p>No one can arrange symphonic works like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pianostreet.com\/liszt-sheet-music\/\">Liszt<\/a> did and <strong>Wagner\u2019s \u201cSolemn March to the Holy Grail\u201d from \u201cParsifal\u201d<\/strong>,  is both intense and sublime &#8211; the solemn ritual of the Good Friday Music and magically performed through Levit\u2019s calm and transparent playing. The transcription of the <strong>\u201cLiebestod\u201d<\/strong> from the same composer\u2019s \u201cTristan und Isolde\u201d, suspends time and displays the quietly luminous with extraordinary sound control. <\/p>\n<p>Bach\u2019s church melodies in the hands of omni-genius Busoni turns into a sorrowful \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pianostreet.com\/busoni-sheet-music\/fantasy-after-j-s-bach-f-minor.htm\">Fantasia<\/a>\u201d, composed as a memorial to the composer\u2019s father. <\/p>\n<p>A discovery and also a marvelous musical experience is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pianostreet.com\/busoni-sheet-music\/elegies\/berceuse-7.htm\">Busoni\u2019s seldom heard Berceuse<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>The longest work, and maybe the most adventurous, is Liszt\u2019s colossal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pianostreet.com\/smf\/index.php?topic=20756\">\u201cFantasia and Fugue\u201d on the Chorale \u201cAd nos, ad salutarem undam\u201d<\/a>, transcribed by Busoni. A true marvel of masterly piano playing and artistic spirit. <\/p>\n<p>The \u201cGhost\u201d Variations by Schumann from the very end of his life, leaves us with the last variation speaking of possible consolation. <\/p>\n<p>Brahms\u2019 famous arrangement of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pianostreet.com\/brahms-sheet-music\/piano-studies\/study-after-chaconne-bach-for-left-5.htm\">Bach\u2019s \u201cChaconne\u201d for left hand<\/a> only, entices us to hold on to life in spite of any possible limitations. <\/p>\n<p>Bill Evans, a jazz pianist hero among classical pianists, has a clear alignment to both Debussy and Messiaen. \u201cPeace Piece\u201d  was created in 1958 in a recording session. Levit stays true to the repetitious original yet with solemn and strong integrity. <\/p>\n<p>Frederic Rawitzki\u2019s \u201cA Mensch\u201d, composed in 2012, in memory of performance artist Ben Israel and his quote: <em><strong>\u201cTo be a mensch!
