Meh. Schirmers.  :P

Huh?  Are you recommending Schimer or saying "blech!" about it?  I thought Schirmer was bad, full of mistakes.

this may not sound very smart, but go for the edition for which the page is easier to turn.... you know, when you open the book, the kind that it would stay?  you know what i'm talking about rite....

I'm with dikai. In Rachmaninoff, I don't think the editing is as important as in something like Bach or Beethoven. If you're at the Rach concerto level, I don't think you'll need fingering for the music either.
Just go with something that's got good binding, like C.F. Peters. Stay far away from Schirmer.

I'm using the International edition - large print, easy to read and thick paper.

It's quite affordable as well.

I believe Boosey and Hawkes is one of the few publishers that have the Rachmaninov 4th concerto and the Paganini variations as they recently signed a contract with the Rachmaninov estate.

The Dover edition is pretty good, although it does not have the 4th Concerto... They are copies from Russian Editions. There is a lack of fingerings, almost none, this might be a problem for some students.

I agree with the International Edition. The book is very durable, pages stay open, and it's not too bright or dim. Boosey and Hawkes is the best for the 4th.
