Hello all. My wife and I visited Jordan Kitts Piano this weekend and we're interested in purchasing a Baby Grand piano. A Steinway is out of our price range, so the salesperson was going back and forth between the Opus III and the Hazelton Bros. models. We were very impressed with the player piano version of the Hazelton, but I've been attempting to research the brand and have been unsuccessful in finding much information. Anyone have any suggestions on either of these brands? Thanks in advance.

Hi Jay,
We must be neighbors. I am near College Park. In that price range, I am a big fan of Maestoso, which is a piano made in Maryland by Pianocraft, modifying significantly a Nordiska (Dongbei, a Chinese piano).
I tried the Opus III and was unimpressed. I don't recall playing Hazelton, but if they had them out on the floor, I must have played a few chords and scales and formed a forgettable opinion rather quickly. :)

Thanks for the 411. I'm actually in Richmond, but not too far away!

Hazelton is made by Samick in Indonesia. Much like other Samick products, it is not a great piano but it is a good one.

If those are your only two choices, I say go with the Hazleton. Thankfully, they are not your only two choices.
Visit Keith at Pianocraft - and see Cathy Harl at Harl Piano in Alexandria,Va. I think you will see some very competitive choices and that will blow the doors off of what JK has offered.
Good Luck,
