why?

really, i dont know
im jus wanna know
what would u say would be the top 5 hardest in the list?
-
Mozart's generally considered to be the hardest composer to play at the highest level as every note has to be perfect. Out of those I would probably say the fmaj. The hardest Sonatas by him would be either the amin or dmaj (k576)

i disagree
to play the liszt polonaise no2 like cziffra, it would be the hardest on the list

The K533 is the most difficult Mozart Sonata by far.

All I can tell you is that out of the Chopin pieces the ocean etude is probably the most difficult, and out of the Mozart pieces, the K. 533 is probably the most difficult (which I did not know at the time I selected it...sigh...). For some perspective: in Hinson's "Guide to the pianist's repertoire" he labels pieces as I (Intermediate), M-D (medium difficult), and D (Difficult). Most of the Mozart sonatas as well as other pieces including Chopin's ballade in g minor (strangely enough) he lists as M-D; pieces like Rachmaninoff sonatas, Chopin's ballade in f minor, etc. etc., are listed as D for difficult...as well as two of Mozart's sonatas: the last one, and K. 533.

From what I checked into the Mozart pieces, the Royal Conservatory of Music ranks K533 as grade 10, K333 as ARCT (Performer's level) and K331 as ARTC aswell (I'm learning that one and absolutely LOVING it. the third variation in the first movement is absolutely stunning... and sorry I do not know about the other Mozart ones. They weren't in my Piano Syllabus

People are going to get tired of my repetition. Sorry. I find posts of this type not very sensible.
I go along with Pianisimo on this one. "Why?"
Anyone who can PLAY these pieces surely can figure out which is harder, which easier.
Moreover, it depends on the individual pianist as to what is harder for HIM or for HER.
For instance, I hate ornaments, and do not do very good trills. I can do fast runs very well.
A different pianist would have other strengths or weaknesses than mine.
Thus the whole thrust of this -- and it relates to a number of postings here -- is just absurd.
-
Although I agree that it always depends on one's own strengths and weaknesses, still there can be the obvious choice between which piece is more difficult if ones chooses say Ravel's minuet compaired to Gaspard.

I was thinking of learning one or some of these pieces.
how about what are the 5 hardest of:
Grieg sonata
Poulenc Pastorale
118-2 intermezzo
117-3 intermezzo
ocean etude
ravel sonatine
suggestion diabolique
cat and mouse
liszt polonaise #2
schubert sonata in A
