Hi all,
I am dreaming of recording some Mozart sonatas and variations later this year, and it occurs to me that it would be nice to record on a Bose. Does anyone know where I could get some studio time with an adequate instrument somewhere between NY and DC? When I start getting them ready I will post in the audition room some home recordings on my piano (an Irmler, divine but not a recording-grade instrument and in a non-suitable living room) just to make sure things are on track.
Cheers!

bosendorfer showroom? 200 lexington avenue? just an idea. why not go for the top? tell them you've got some good stuff - want to make a recording - and if they want a free recital (in exchange for letting you record the music?). never been there, but i bet it's nice! google: recording studio with bosendorfer in nyc
you have to bring something that accentuates those bottom notes!

Iumonito,
I have just a few words for you - Steep Rock Studios in Philadelphia. They have a beautifully maintained Bosendorfer 225.

Dr. Greg Wilder is wonderful to work with. Give him a call and let him know that I mentioned him to you, please.

Perfect. Thanks. Will do!

It just occured to me that there is another fine studio in Collegeville Pa. with a very nice Estonia grand. They are Northwest of Philly - in the middle of suburbia and do lots of commercial stuff.
I just can't remember their name or URL at the moment. I will get back to you on that.

Thanks, Rich. That's awfully nice. For this project, though, I would not consider the Estonia, even if it is a 9-footer.
I have decided on the strenght of your suggestion to go to Steep Rock. I just need to practice my Mozart a little more.

id love to do this when i can play a whole sonata or something like that, but bits and bobs of poorer pieces is hardly pointful (i dont hink that is a word, but you know what i mean...)
And i live in Lancashire in UK and o not know of any around here... id like to use a Bose or a Model D... i saw a recording studio - day for £140 ($200) with as much recording/cutting as you want free of charge, and you get a hard drive with the recordings and cuts on too...

tom,
That seems a dirt cheap cost for a full day of time - let alone any editing or cutting as well. Are you sure that is correct...... and, if so, is it operated by chimps? ;) :)
