Title: HELP! moving piano from hong kong to london
Post by: 026497 on April 12, 2006, 03:01:47 PM
Dear all,

I am going to bring my piano with me to london. What can i do? My parents have no idea how to move a piano. as a cargo? i am afraid the rude workers will hurt my darling.
plus, is it worth to move a seiler upright(around $100 000 HKD)? is it wiser to sell it and buy a new one in uk? (my least favourite option) any experience or comment?

You only have two shipping options.
1 By cargo ship. it takes a few weeks, and is less expensive.
2 By air-freight. Quicker, but more expensive. $3,800 USD, and more than what the piano is worth.
I'd look into selling the piano, and finding another in the UK.

thank you for your advice.

what if i choose the first option, by cargo ship. how much does it cost? do i need to wrap the piano by myself? any professional can help?

PS 1USD = 7.8HKD

I am sure you can get the packing and shipping arrangement via the piano dealer you bought the piano from. They should have a nicely fitted size box for your piano. Regards.
