Title: Chopin film - Hugh Grant as Frederik
Post by: stormx on April 14, 2006, 10:57:11 PM
Have you seen it?  :o :o

I have only seen the last 30 minutes...it seems a pretty weak movie, IMO.

I wonder whether this story about the duel and Chopin's faint is accurate or not...do you know?

And, what is your opinion about the picture?

PD: on the credits, it says Emanuel Ax plays Chopin's pieces.

What's it called? The only Chopin fil-m I know about is Song to Remember with Cornel Wilde - load of crap historically but I like it.

It's called Impromptu. I enjoyed it, although it's slow at times. I wouldn't want to watch it again.

Haha...the film is really fun to watch. I liked the parts with Franz Liszt. I don't think the duelling incident is true...in fact I am quite sure it's not.

For the quality, I agree with Motrax.

I really like it. It's quite funny and as long as you're not looking for complete historical accuracy (or really, any historical accuracy) it's a good, light film.

Indeed, in rereading my post I realize that I didn't quite say that it's worth watching - it really is. Just don't come in with the highest expectations, and you'll enjoy it quite a bit I think.

I thought it was very funny and the music was lovely!  Historical accuracy?  Probably not, so just watch it for the amusement, the pretty French scenery, and the music.

HUGH GRANT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
HUGH GRANT!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?

*sputters*

Good lord not HIM!

I HATE hugh Grant.  Worst actor ever.... I mean it. The chauvanistic Pig.  AAAUUGGGHHH!!!
All he can do is play the hunky, dumb, mean boss, neighbour etc.  I HATE him.  Way to ruin a film putting Hugh grant in it. IMNSHO

Sorry, of all actors, he is one I would try and punch if I saw him in real life the J@ck @$$

Chopin's way to smart of a character for Hughy, no wonder it was a weak film.

The best, most touching Chopin movie I have ever watched, was "The Blue Note". It is a French movie, but surprisingly good. ;D
