Title: The 5 Browns
Post by: alwaystheangel on June 28, 2006, 09:56:40 PM
The 5 Browns are a quintuplet of 5 Julliard trained pianist siblings
Have you ever heard of them? What do you think?
I'm just curious, because I enjoy their playing, or are they just selling out?

I went and saw one of thier concerts once.  They are very talented, and I even remember a little news story on TV once about them.

But their concert repetoire was hardly moving - it mostly consisted of showy transcriptions for several pianists at once, entertaining but not really that memorable.

I was just watching their video clip of west side story, my god they have horrific posture and they make bizzarre faces when they play!

Yep, this has been discussed a few times before... you know there IS a search function on this board that can tell you if you're posting a worn out topic... ::)

I've saved you the trouble, and am giving you the other topics to read:

you have a very rude way about yourself.

Without wishing unduly to depart from the thread topic, I live in UK where just one Brown is currently at least five too many; I refer, of course, not to any kind of pianist but to a Chancellor of the Exchequer whose attitude seems to be that if it moves, tax it and if it no longer moves, then it's high time to levy Inheritance Tax...

Best,
Alistair

you have a very rude way about yourself.

I don't mind talking about the Browns.  I also don't mind making different threads to discuss different aspects of their art or to alert people that they have recordings here or there.

But really, how many times can you start a thread that begins with "have you heard of the 5 browns?" before that topic gets old?

I did not mean to be rude.  I don't like when the same topic is started on multiple different threads, but if anything, my intention was to educate and help at the same time -- educate to let people know that you should do a search before you post, and also help the poster find the information they want.
