Title: oh dang it....it happened again!! (a question only for girls)
Post by: pathetiquegirl on July 20, 2006, 07:29:47 PM
how many of you get razor burn when you shave?  what's the secret to not getting razor burn?  i shave my legs every day and a razor blade last me about 2 weeks and when i change blades it is really bad.  i use Venus it's the best i have found.  any suggestions would be great!

ouch.  have u ever done that.  don't suggest something unless you've done it yourself.  (backs away from ada)

one thing i will admit - if you don't use a fairly sharp double blade - you'll be sorry.  i think some use shaving cream - but dove soap seems ok to me.  just lather a lot of soap. why are you asking this ridiculous question?  ok.  it's not ridiculous.  just that who wants the pain of waxing?  i look at the bottles occasionally and then tell myself it wouldn't be worth it.

*i wonder if the burn comes from not putting on lotion a lot.  seems that if ur legs are dry then they will 'burn' more easily.  could be wrong.  also, those nair products scare me, too.  if they eat hair -what else.  couldn't they be bad for skin?  or when u wash it off - it goes away?  i don't really know.  estheticians would.  but then,  they do waxing.

Use quality blades, yes they are more expensive but they last longer too.  I find if I want a really smooth shave it's got to be done in 2 directions: first with the grain, second against the grain.

What's the difference between ladies and men's razors anyways?  What do they do different.

I feel I'm in the dark ages useing a Mach III, now they have Fusion with 5 + 1 blades or whatever.  Anyone try this new razor?

I never get that. Never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever dry shave, always use shaving gel. If you don't have that, use hair conditioner, it works just as well. And wait until you've been in the shower/bath for long enough for the hairs to soften and so you have no goosebumps or anything.
After that, moisturise, and exfoliate a couple of times a week! (Which won't help the razor burn but if you follow my Foolproof Advice™ it won't be an issue any more. ;))
