I'm going to buy a digital piano but I have no idea what to buy. After some time searching on the net I think that the Yamaha CLP115 is a good buy/quality.
My budget is +- 1200 euros. Does anyone have any expirience with this model?The most important thing is good piano sound and the price of course. All the extra's (recording, other sounds,...) are good but not required.
I don't know if this matters but I'm a beginner.

I play already a couple of years the piano, and since 4 months I had to buy an digital. I've bought an CLP-120. Because I wanted the few extra's (recording, direct acces to the other sounds, ...). The CLP series is extremely well. You can't compare them with a real piano, but there is no digital where you dan do that.
A nice extra with the 120 is that you receive a book with 50 songs in it (Bach, Chopin, Mozart, Debussy, ...). All those songs are also programmed in the piano, and you can choose to play only the left hand or vice versa. This is very usefull to study some pieces.
I have payd 1.470 EUR, but the normal price is 1.934 EUR. (it is a bit above your budget. but I think the pre-programmed pieces are very handy to study, you won't regret it when you're older and can play better)

i've played a lot of pieces from Bach (preludes, fugas, inventionen, ...).
Those were the songs from his time. (allright: the comparision is not extremely noble towards bach, but you understand what I mean).
So: Bach: sorry if I have insulted you :P

i have a CLP-950. It's original price was 2300 euro, but i bought it for 1500 euro ;) I got some discount because of the colour (it's mahogany, not all that bad...) and because it was a showmodel... But the store-owner also knew me a little bit... I'm not sure how much influence that had :P, but ok.
Maybe you can check out showmodels in colours that aren't really wanted at the moment. You can get a better digital piano then for a lesser price, only you might not really like the colour.

Cantatas (both sacred an secular), motets, oratorios, lieder (both sacred and secular) and canons.
Although I doubt any of these found its way into Yamaha's sample of fifty. ;)

I did it on purpose of course (ahem) :-/.... I had never heard about the 'lieder'. However preludes, fugues, or inventions are definitely not songs.

I'm newbie too and have recently bought a CLP-120 ( 1340 € with livery ) and am very happy with it. Although it's not an acoustic (quite far from it) it does the job very well.
I know this digital is going to do the job for some years but I also know that I'll have to buy an acoustic one some time in the future.
The best digital i have played was a Kawai. Its sound was very good (as the Yamaha is) but the touch was nearer to an acoustic. I have to say that it was more expensive than the CLP-120.
If you don't have the budget to buy an acoustic i recomend you the CLP-120. Again, I'm VERY happy with it.
