I hate to compare pieces like this, but for competitions and such, which is better (for the contemporary category)? Bartok Rumanian Dances (the 2 of them, op.8a I think), or Albeniz "El Albaicin"?
Which one is more demanding (in terms of technique AND musicality)?
Thanks lots.

None of them is easy in terms of musicality, but they are very different.
I believe "El Albaicin" is harder, mostly in terms of technique, but is a spectacular piece!

I'm Hungarian by birth, but since "transplanted". Albeniz is much neglected, especially here where much of the talk is on Liszt (the TE's). Albeniz, especially "Iberia", is a mountain to climb like few others, but the accomplishment is not to be missed.

hm... interesting. though for some reason I think the Albeniz is a bit easier. I wanna play something that has a really great concert effect (flames up people's mood and everything).
Albeniz is also a little shorter. I have yet to decide still.
but thanks. =)
