Title: How difficult is it to get into schools like Mannes and Manhattan?
Post by: bachfan87 on October 27, 2006, 03:15:29 AM
Does anyone have any audition tips? They're in March and I have to get into one of them.

It is not very difficult as long as you have prepared and played well for the audition.  ;D

Not easy But not as hard as the likes of Julliard and Curtis etc. Thats not to say you dont need to work your butt off though, prepare as though you were going for Julliard if you want to be certain of a place. Dont settle for mediocrity EVER!

I think it is on par with New England, Peabody, Indiana, and Eastman.  Juilliard is thrown out because they only accept 10 piano students in undergrad and grad every year, and Curtis only accepts if they don't have their quota (163, I believe?).

Why not?

David Bryan from Bon Jovi was good enough to go there and I think most people here are better then him.

If you can visit Vladimir Felstman or Richard Goode and get their opinion about what your options are, you will be in better shape.  I wonder how many lessons a term they teach at Mannes.

You may want to add SUNY Purchase to your list, by the way.
