Title: Star Wars paraphrase on youtube
Post by: principe7613 on December 15, 2006, 01:29:19 AM
Dear friends,

as some of you might remember, I wrote a big Star Wars paraphrase. I played it during the holidays, but now it was some time ago, but a student of mine liked it and recorded it on video and so here's the youtube post:

the piano is extremely bad, and I'm not playing very concentrated, but, whatever, I can only say !enjoy!!!

grtz,

Joost

i really like it Joost, and I've learnt your work pretty much up to a performable standard now.

but there is one thing that i'm not sure how to over come, which is the large block chords that are almost always present, making the entire piece loud and crashy.

have you perhaps any thoughts of rewriting one which has more dynamic contrast, and something which is a  bit less taxing on the performer?

just a thought, you know. i still really like your work  :)

Hey Kony,

I know what you're talking about. What happened was that I wrote down the paraphrase very fast in order not to forget something. Therefore the first version, which I posted as a score contains a lot of mistakes, chords that are not pianistic, etc.
The version in youtube is the second one, with a lot of little changements. I played it a few times in concert, and changed the "crashy"chords, some rather inpianistic stuff in the second part, etc.
I'm revising the score right now, I'll post it when it's done!

Grtz, Joost
