Star pianist Lang Lang will arrive in Fresno just in time to be the first to play on a brand new Steinway that the Fresno Philharmonic will acquire after this holiday season. Lang Lang is known for his signature exaggerated and animated playing style that sells out concert halls. The Chicago Tribune hailed him as “the biggest, most exciting keyboard talent encountered in many years.”
About his unique style, Lang Lang says, “For me, music is pure communication. It is a wonderful triangle to be able to pass on the works of a great composer to the audience in interplay with an orchestra. It’s as unique and irretrievable as a kiss.”
Lang Lang will appear with the Fresno Philharmonic Monday, February 5 at 8:00 p.m.
Tickets are priced from $32 to $85 dollars. To purchase tickets, call 559-261-0600 or visit the Philharmonic’s website at www.fresnophil.org.

Lang Lang just performed in Chicago in the last day or so. There was a long review in the Chicago Tribune. (Today's date is Jan 12 '07)
The review was mixed, but generally favorable. Apparently the early program was rather unremarkable, but he ended with a bravura performance.
The reviewer said in a positive way that some of the mannerisms and eccentricities of a few years ago seemed to be considerably diminished.
Maybe there is hope for him yet.
