I have to say, i love rock. I listen to jazz and some classical too but rock will always be a love of mine. I was wondering how many people on this forum are really into rock. It's a shame but there is little good piano in rock, and so i can't really play it much, though i did learn "after all these years" by silverchair, a gorgeous song, but hardly challenging. Anyway if you like rock say so, and if you have any fun rock songs, preferably alternative, for paino that you know do tell me.

i love rock - although i dont play much on piano.
favourite band include the usual - beatles, queen, ac/dc , metallica, iron maiden, nirvana, offspring. etc
all styles of rock can , in theory, be played on solo piano.
but is it worth it?

Thats true there is him, though he's more on the blues end of rock. I'm surprised there are this few people into rock though, could just be it needs more time but it seems you guys are far more into classical.
I just hope you aren't being closed minded and thinking rock is a lesser form of music. I know a lot of people, and not to generalise but usually older people, reject any other style of music as not "real" music. In pretty much the same way many rockers dissmiss classical as boring old people's music. Isn't it sad how closed people are in this world.
If any of you happen to just have never had the opportunity to listen to rock but are interested i recommend, aside from those mentioned by comme_le_vent: Silverchair, as you may have guessed, Queens of the Stone Age, Pearl Jam (binaural is a great album), Abandoned Pools, Smashing Pumpkins (gish, though mellon collie is good too), Our Lady Peace, Mars Volta, the list could go on for days, i'll stop there though.

Rock is great. I like the music written around the 70s/80s the most. Queen's music, for instance, is excellent. I especially love Bohemian Rhapsody, Don't Stop Me Now, Bicycle Race, and most of their other popular tunes. Led Zeppelin had some great music too.
I think that Rock isn't given enough credit on these piano forums. Some here probably even think that all Rock is "bad." Don't listen to these idiots. Great music also exists outside of the Classical realm.

Hello. i do enjoy rock music as well. actually i like most forms of music as long as it is good. what do i not enjoy? people without talent performing cliche pop songs. too much of that going on!
So, here is a list of non-classical musicians I enjoy listening to..
Led Zeppelin-Who doesn't like them! Favorite songs: Achille's Last Stand, Kashmir, Dancing Days, All My Love, Tangerine, Levee's Gonna Break (originally a blues tune), and the list could go on!
Stone Temple Pilots-I recommed "Sour Girl"
Alice in Chains-excellent harmonies and guitar work
Bjork-you really can't go wrong here. for a classical music fan bjork is a good crossover, many of her performances include string sections...check out her unplugged performance for an interesting assortment of instruments.
Dave Matthews Band-obviously an excellent group of musicians.
PJ Harvey-bluesy rock
Kate Bush-her music is very interesting, thought-provoking, she is very unique
And my all time favorite..Tori Amos-now she can play piano!

There's more than you think.. apart from the obvious Elton John and Billy Joel, there's Donald Fagin (Steely Dan), Nicky Hopkins (many Who albums), Bill Payne (Little Feat). Pigpen (Greatful Dead, RIP dude), Bruce Hornsby (the Dead again, and his own stuff and other collaborations), Keith Emerson, Rick Wakeman and quite a few others. Yeah Rock is primarily guitar oriented, but there's a lot of good Rock piano.
