Title: My poor little piano

One of the string dampers busted (low a flat) so that note stays "on" forever.  I fixed the thing with elmers glue till I can get it officially fixed, but I have to wait till it dries before I can play again.  (heavy sigh)

Ha!  Believe it or not, I had just bought Prokofiev's Toccatta, and sat down to sight read through it.  A couple of measures in the left hand does some jumping around to an a-flat.  The note was sustained instead of staccato, and I knew I was toast.  This little piano has always been pretty good, and it's never needed any "real" service beyond basic tuning and cleaning.  But just lately (it's 35 years old) it's busted a string, and now a damper.  There are a couple more looking like they want to go.  Troulbe is, I don't want to blow big bucks fixing this one up, when I am shopping for a new one anyway. (whine).  I'm going to sit down to practice now, so you'll either get silence on this board from me if it works, or noise if I have to fix more stuff.

Ask anybody--we always remember exactly what we were playing when something broke!  I've only broken one string in my life, the lowest E string.  It occurred in Schumann's Novellette #1 in F.  Usually in the case of a string, it happens because there was a tiny imperfection in the string when it was drawn, so it's always an accident just waiting to happen.
