Ya, let me name some 21st century composers off the top of my head so I can pose as a new-age renaissance man. How about that new work for solo harpsichord by Jean Lesage? Those mindless clusters and that hackney counterpoint really make me think of a slaughter house. That is way fierce man!

Naama is not just some random 20th century piece with random mindless clusters.  Xenakis included some pretty modal melodies in Naama cuz he is an emotional guy 2!

Also why did the first reply have to be some '*sigh* probably some garbage modern stuff  ::)' post?  Fuck off bro.  ::)
I believe I was referring to the piece by Lesage. Also, I wasn't talking about your choice of Naama, I was referring to your arrogant dismissal of Rachmaninoff and Chopin as 'emo faggottry'.

Oh, and what the hell do you mean by 'pretty modal' and how does that imply emotion?

Well, in that case, you forgot a comma.

Here is that PRETTY MODAL MELODIES section:

That was a joke, right? It just sounds like a really evil music box.

Liszt's 8th Transcendental Etude, Liebermann's  Presto Feroce from Gargoyles and Ligeti's The Devils Staircase are pieces I would describe as Badass.

And possibly the most insanely furious piece I know is Pletnev's transcription of Shchedrin's Horse-Racing from Anna Karenina.

or am I thinking of a completely different one by someone completely different

What do you think are the most badass, hardcore, totally RAD works?  By badass I mean the opposite of Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Barrett, and other emo faggotry.

I'll go first:
Xenakis - Naama.  I like to desribe this as 'metal' on a harpsichord.

Not to mention that some of us find your use of the word "faggotry" highly offensive. I suggest you find some more appropriate forum for your ignorant rantings.

Nice effort, but you have broken the rules!
-Only Saudi royalty (me) can declare new retards!
-Former retards (so far it has been you, counterpoint, and Derek) can have no say in this matter.

I am not a retard.  I am the retard destroyer.  Because you are a retard your opinion is thus bias and thereby null and void.  Now why don't you go wiki some random composer and then make a thread where the only thing you say is "Isn't this the best composer ever?"

You're thinking of someone else, Gesualdo, and I think he knifed her. FWIW, the blunderbuss hadn't been invented when Machaut was alive!

The day you show a shred of musical intelligence is the day I'll start taking you seriously. In the meantime, continue embarrassing yourself by posting threads that would be better placed in a Britney Spears forum.
