Title: scriabin's etude op 2 no 1
Post by: aewanko on April 05, 2008, 11:27:30 AM
well, I got this piece the other day and I wondered if you could offer any tips on it because I can't seem to maintain the speed well due to the arpeggiated and big chords.

Scriabin's a crazy man, I tell you! :P

It's a slow piece, and for the most part the 8th note rhythm is constant.  Use rubato, take time to roll the large chords or the piece would sound unnaturally stiff.

Examine the piece harmonically because there is a lot going on.  Use the harmonic progressions as a clue to shape phrases and where tension and release points may occur.
