I almost applied to Interlochen, but I found it a little excessive. I've been to Blue Lake twice for piano; I was bored each time and got food poisoning twice.
I would only recommend Interlochen to those HIGHLY interested in the Arts. Forty thousand dollars a year is a lot of money to be spending for someone with just a "casual interest" in piano.
Blue Lake on the other hand is good for those throughout the whole spectrum. It's also long enough to make you miss the luxuries from home, but short enough to teach you a thing or two about music. BEWARE of the food. Especially those gas station burritos they feed you.

I have a few friends who go to Interlochen. Really good vocalists - reeeaaallllyyy good - and I hear from them that the instrumentalists are exceptional as well.
