Schuberts sonatas
Beethovens sonatas
Chopin Nocturnes

Let's not. Please do a search for these kinds of topics and never create these threads again. Veteran members such as myself have seen too many of these over the years and are quite sick of them.
-
Well veteran members don't actually have to read them, but i get your point.

Yes true thal,
Im sure your 2 seconds of reading and not wanting to reply doesnt mean you control the forum and can determine who posts what. Simply just dont reply and keep you opinions to yourself.

Im also sure everything has been spoken about more than one in the world - Does that mean it cant be said?

That is true old chap, but in 6 months time you will be fed up with hardest threads as well.
This thread along with the millions of others like it will i am sure get moved into the polls thread where it really belongs.

You are right on the basis that i have put it in the wrong thread - Apologies. But still give me my six months to get fed up of it!!! thats what i say - I wouldnt be rude to a newby no matter what - i would give advice like next time try looking for it in the search before posting it. Never rudeness

I think you are getting a little oversensitive here. You have been a member for all of 5 days and you have not really got off to a good start.
I can understand to some extent why you got annoyed in your Rach Concerto thread, but perhaps you should have spent a bit more time as a guest looking through old threads before you started to post. We have had hundreds of "hardest" threads and they get absolutely nowhere. They have all been moved to the "childs" boards as nobody else really wants to discuss it. I think there is even something in the forum rules about duplicating threads.
Only a suggestion and i you say I don't run the place (thankfully), otherwise i would have banned myself ages ago.

Once again, wise, sanguine and most welcome advice and commentary from the indispensible Thal who, on the evidence of this alone (but also on many more of his copious and frequent contributions to this forum) is clearly far less "mad" than his forum ID might suggest...
Best,
Alistair

I have my sensible moments.

it's strange... ???
someone who wants to be respected gets mad and say people to shut up. does it make any sense?
anyway, i must rememer one of the most important unspoken rule of fora: read first, comment after, start later.
(now it's my time ;D - from the "Principia of behaviour in an internet forum: golden rules to someone who don't want to act like an ass" just $16,99!!! order now and receive together a VHS tape with some of the most incredible moments of soccer in eastern mongolia).

But if you want to get fed up with it, surely there's no difference in doing a search and reading through all piles of these types of threads than writing your own and getting these types or responses from members. (ie, irritating a lot of people)
-
chozartmaninoff probably hasn't read the countless threads on hardest and easiest that exist on here. You probably would get more of an intelligent response if you compare particular pieces and for a reason. It wouldn't be so bad to ask what pieces are harder or easier if you actually wanted to learn them as a matter of categorizing and organizing your study path. I would say Mozart has the easiest Sonata's and Beethoven Sonatas contain the most difficult. But comparing sonatas to etudes to Bach WTC? It's apples and oranges.

. . . agreed, except that I think Mozart is incredibly difficult because of the exposed nature of the writing. That said, his sonatas, for the most part, don't hold a candle to Beethoven's. Odd, isn't it? How uneven Mozart can be? The operas, the late symphonies, the concerti, the early and middle period chamber works are beyond comparison. But, he has these odd gaps, where inspiration lags and he sounds like some 18th-century journeyman. Well, I guess we can't parade our genius on every outing.

Beethoven has gaps too - Wellington's Victory, Consecration of the House Overture (and that's a late work!), There are other works which may be good but aren't masterpieces (all of the sonatas aren't the equal of say op.111) and the same with Mozart - the amin, cmin and last dmaj are all great and ingenious however there are those of lesser quality. (see me pianists thread for similar discussion ;D). But be they on the lighter side they are generally impeccably crafted.
