Post by: pinoypianist on September 02, 2008, 01:26:02 PM
dont know where to post this so im posting it here

How would you feel if you worked your ass off for a school piano competition and all of a sudden 2 weeks before the contest they moved it to a different date just because some students are not ready?............ this recently happened at our school, what do you think? what would you do?

I study at the unversity of the philippines. yes I know filipino time but for me you don't move competitions just because a few people are not ready. and there's this guy from school who said that "no one actually worked hard and is prepared for the competition". for me if your not ready and if you don't work hard then don't join!this is my first experience of having a competition mo so iim still a bit sour........

Wow UP...  :o

Relax, okay? Forget what people say, just do what you do. You can use the additional time to your advantage.

I envy you. Only in my dreams can I go to UP. Music college, that is.

It is difficult to be mentally prepared for something, only to have it be postponed. However, since you were prepared before other competitors, you will still have an advantage, no matter how much extra time they are given. Good luck!

I've only had a go at 1 small local competition, and I wished that I had had more time to prepare.  :'(

Don't get despondent, and use the time wisely to perfect your pieces.  8)

The others can't be very good if they are not ready.  ::)

Why? UP is a good school but not everybody who enters it (as you can see from the attitude some people have there) is. not kidding. BTW where do you study? why didn't you try auditioning?

Yeah I'll just do that. thanks. well it's concerto competition (classical) and it was anounced about 7 months ago. So I didn't understand why some of them said that they're not ready

Well some talented people have bad attitude. Untalented ones can be worse.Can't. Beginner. But I've been to UP College of Science. Yes, there were jerks there too... I have half a mind to audition in the future, but I don't know.......

I'm not going to college atm. I study at Yamaha School, main office.

Isn't there an age limit or something? And the audition...  :-\

Okay, I guess I'll tell the truth now. I'm taking the Integrated Music Course. My teachers atm:
Piano = Ma'am Carmela Salazar
Guitar = Sir Antonio Lipana
Integrated Course = Sir Eric Dimson

Okay, thanks! :D Actually quite shy about it, am probably the least talented here.

Whose concert? Is it for free? That's in BDO Makati right?

why do you say least talented? anyway, yes it's for free and it's in BDO Makati. The trio is called the abbeg trio. I dunno if they're from Austria or Germany.

Least exp = Least talent

It doesn't show in my posts?  ;)

Edit:
Okay, it's a date then.
Oh. Can you drop by Yamaha the day before? Sept. 20. Student recital.

That explains it. It is weird how I attract Indonesians and Filipinos on this site.
