I'm almost 19 and I'm studying A level music at college (thats English college).
I can't halp but feel alitle uncomfortable in class when it comes to judging my technical playing ability or standered next to my fellow classmates. I obviously havn't been playing as long as them.
I'v been playing the piano for almost 4 years now. I started with a very open aural aprouch learning jazz and not classical technique or sight reading untill at least a year later. At the moment I'v just decided to work towards my Grade five classical piano with "the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music" (or ABRSM).
In Peoples Opinion, is this a reasonable standard to be at considering the amount of time I'v been playing?

What are your long term musical goals? (eg. piano teacher, concert pianist, orchestrator, homeless guy on the street with a keyboard and hat for nickels..)

Yes, that's reasonable. Since you are versed in Jazz music technique, consider yourself one up on the other students as they probably did not go through such technique. Problem is, they'll never use it in class. Hence, neither will you.
Hark! There are some composers who utilize very heavy chord that most of the 'classical' composers hardly ever used. I have to mention Alkan's works - very heavy with full chords - at times, even scary and intimidating.
Is it reasonable? Yes. If you are a coffee shop, don't compare yourself to Starbucks even though both offer the same thing. Starbucks was once just a coffee shop but it took them a long time to become 'Starbucks'.
