You definately have a good hand for Rachmaninoff :) You let the melody freely sing and breathe, the chords and arpeggios give a rich and full ground. Very good buildup to the climax! You realise what a teacher once said to me: A good pianist has always time. One of my all time favorite Rach pieces, wonderfully played :)

Hi rob,

I also have a recording of this prelude posted on Piano Street, so know the music very well.  I believe you've offered a very commendable rendition here.  Excellent playing!

I'm surprised this thread has been bumped after so many months... but I can't believe I missed this recording when it first was uploaded... and I've been with this forum for years.

That was actually beautiful... The shaping was almost concert professional. I'd love to hear more of your recordings...

I knew a couple of people at uni who weren't brilliant at tackling hard & fast pianistic pieces, but they could nail any slow, beautifully melodic piece any day. I envied them for a while until I managed to develop my shaping and melodic skills in playing.

This was lovely.

Overall very nice performance, the melody comes out nicely.
Maybe you should watch your pedalling abit, on some places it gets too blurry to my taste. Also i think that you might have missed the melody on 1:06 and 2:04, you could have a look at that and concider playing it abit differently.
