Title: Your favorite Chopin ballade
Post by: csharp_minor on January 16, 2009, 04:46:00 PM: This has probably been done before but so what, I only recently(ish) discovered them! So I'm a still obsessed about them. :o Feel free to mention your favorite / not so favorite performances of them too if you like...

Heres mine in order from my most favorite to the somewhat least favorite - but its still all very very good! ;D

Ballade 3, Op 47 - Ab major :-*

Ballade 4, Op 52 - F minor

Ballade 1, Op 23 - G minor

Ballade 2, Op 38 - F major

Really like Zimmerman's preformance of them esp of numbers 3 and 4, I find Pollini's version a little rushed, but really like the 1st one by him...Rachmaninov's version of number 3 is intresting but not to my taste :-[, sorry Rach.

My least favorite is the god damn fourth, because it is vapid and soporific.

... awwww No 3 seems to be the least favorite :( ???. I don't know why, its not as fancy as the 2nd, but it more then makes up for it in passion I think 8). Its flirty.
