Hi everyone,
I have the plan to set up a concert, with on the program the pianoconcerto of Haydn in g, and a violin concerto of Mozart.
What I wanted to know is the orchestration of those pieces, I can't find it anywhere.
How many violins do I need, which instruments?
Thanks for the answer in advance!

No? :(

Well, get the score and find out by yourself ... everybody can't know the orchestration of every piece from memory.

Hey,
Good question. All I can give you is the standard numbers for a classical orchestra (simple omit the instruments not included in the respective concerti).
2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons
2-4 horns, 2 trumpets
timpani
8 first violins, 8 second violins, 6 violas, 4 cellos, 3 double basses
You could scale this down if need be, but you'd have some balance issues to sort out.
Best of luck.
