Title: Schumann Carnaval
Post by: Chiarina on June 08, 2004, 03:48:56 PM
I am playing Carnaval by Schumann now quite for a while. The whole piece for me is questions, questions and questions. This must be one of most misterious piece in whole piano literature.Apart from enormous technical dificculty comes problem-how to make it as a unity for a listener, and how to get right proportions on it.How to find balance between excentric, ironic side of it and this extreamly inner, fragile, full of personal care expression.Sometimes it feels-I know exactly how to play it,and then again comes times, when I am compleately lost.
Do you have some ideas? And also-how to learn Paganini?

To start with, have a look here where Carnaval has been previously discussed:
