I have been into this profession for quite some time. As a private music teacher, I find it easier to perform my duties with the help of my own website and music teaching blog.
Anyone here who have their own?

I would say it is essential. I built my website (https://www.williamhay.co.uk) before I started my private teaching practice but redesigned it four years ago to attract new students when I also begun the process of SEO - search engine optimisation. Four years down the line I now have a blog (https://blog) (at the recommendation of a parent of one of my students) , web gallery (https://whay.me/gallery) and a podcast feed (https://whay.me/itunes) to display examples of my student's work.
95% of new students now find me through the website and I am oversubscribed with a waiting list. It takes a while for parents to get the idea but now many expect me to post useful information i.e exam times/fees, important dates etc on the website and use it as there first port of call before asking me.
I am also experimenting with twitter (https://twitter.com/willhaypiano)from a marketing angle, exploring the benefits for a music teacher.

Absolutely! I have completely built my business from my website. I'm in the process of migrating my content to a new, redesigned website (with a blog), but the info about my teaching studio will remain about the same.
I know I wouldn't have half the students I have if they hadn't found me through a Google search.

Yes, it is also important to have some SEO strategies to increase traffic to your music teachers website or music teachers blog. From an average of 20 visitors per day, it increased to more than a hundred since I gained ranks in major search engines.
