Title: Easy pieces in hard keys?
Post by: Petter on June 10, 2009, 10:28:23 AM
Hi I'm a jazz pianist, the hardest classical piece I played so far is Doctor Gradus ad Parnassus and the Chopin C# minor waltz. Is there any pieces in remote keys such as Eb minor or Gb major that has a lot of finger work similar to Doctor Gradus? Not so much anything with lots of voices.

Schubert's Gb major impromptu is not too difficult.

Play DR Gradus in all possible keys - then you'll get plenty of practice at hard keys _and_ transposing!

I think I'll stick to "Oh! Susanna"

right now i'm playing the ravel's sonatine. The middle mvt. of the piece should be pretty easy to play for you.
