Do you take piano exams? If so, what grade are you in? How long have you been playing?
-
I've currently sat my Licentiate Piano Exam which is the second highest in Australia... I've been playing for 15 years and have a degree in Music Education (specialising in Classical Piano Music)
Now going for the highest - the Fellowship of the Rings....
Oh wait - my mistake - Fellowship of Music. ;D

i'm a student at SFCM
i don't know what grade that is.

I've been playing for about 5 years over the last 8 years (had 4 children in that time!) and have just finished polishing my grade 6 pieces last Christmas and am working on some Grade 7 and other repertoire. But that's UK where we only go up to Grade 8, anyone know how it compares?

collyermum - I'm curious about something so I understand learning curves... did you begin 8 years ago on piano with ZERO musical background? Or did you have years under your belt from studying another instrument? To me, grade 6 in eight years ("five years" due to kids) is impressive if starting from scratch zero in music. Just curious.

Best of luck - I know what you've gone through... wait till you try the Fellowship... You'll almost cry.
