Title: What piece should I learn first?
Post by: presto agitato on January 22, 2010, 03:44:49 AM
Hello friends i have six months and i need to learn these pieces:

1.- Bach - Rondeaux from partita BWV 8262
2. - Chopin - Etude Op 10-4
3. - Brahms - Capriccio Op 116-1

As you can see, three very different and difficult pieces.

Bach´s is about conterpoint and very good use of dynamics and melodic lines in both hands.

Chopin´s is about speed and precision.

Brahms´s is about chords and octaves

Which one should i learn first?

PD I practice two hours per day.

Thanks

Bach helps with everything else eventually, so................? I would consider what happens to be you current greatest technical dificiency in light of choosing repertoire, and also consult your teacher.

Bach for sure.

The Capriccio has octaves and probably some difficult voicing, but the Chopin is probably the most beastly of those 3.

Some people like playing easiest->hardest, but I'd be a little less stressed starting the more difficult one a bit earlier.

What about working more than one at a time?
