How interesting!  I had never seen one of those before, though I've been intrigued since learning that Schumann wrote two sets of pieces for pedal piano:  Op. 56 (six studies in canon form) and Op. 58 (four sketches).

Schumann's compositions for pedal piano didn't seem to achieve the requisite popularity to become a standard part of standard piano repertoire, though they could be transcribed for a modern instrument pretty easily.  I wonder if any other composers had sufficient interest in the pedal piano to write anything significant specifically for it.

Fascinating!  Speaking of different pianos, has anyone ever heard the "butterfly" piano that opens up on the bottom as well as the top.  The sonority must be overwhelming.  Someone played it in Carnegie hall, I think.  Or am I delerious?  Haven't heard of it since then.
