Title: Turning Pages-Ugh
Post by: albertf1 on April 27, 2010, 03:07:26 PM
I have noticed that the orchestra pianists at some of the stage shows I attend can effortlessly and very quickly turn the pages of the musical score. Same for the pianist at my church and also at the at the pipe organ while flawlessly playing a very difficult Bach piece. Not for me. While I can learn to play a piece to my satisfaction, I often come to the dreaded page turning event. My fingers cannot seem to grasp the page and make a smooth and timely turn. Try as I may, my fingers slip on the paper.
Is there a technique for grasping and turning pages or am I forever doomed to a long pause at each page turning event? Your advice is most welcome.

Fold the edge of the page so you can grab it quickly.
