Title: Schmidt pianoforte 1829.
Post by: casaet on October 28, 2010, 09:34:46 AM
New member on the forum, first posting. I do not own this instrument, and I do not intend to buy the one I found on the net here in Norway. But I have contacted the seller, and it would be nice to help him find a buyer who can take proper care of the instrument. So I thought I could start here, and get some information and suggestions. The seller has stated a price of 450 euro or highest bid, but it should be worth considerably more than that. The instrument is not a Hammerflugel, but an upright piano. According to the photos and information from the seller it seems to be in good condition. Several good photos can be found using Google. Search: finn.no finnkode:24072510.

I looked at the photos.

A cross- strung instrument from 1829? Not likely……this company was established in 1865 and ended in 1928.

Typically German uprights had the over-damper system popular in the 1890’s. Maybe a slip on the keyboard with regard to the age date of 1829?
