Hello Dear members,
This is the first time I ever started a topic. In here I would like to show you a video of me playing in a Piano Master-course in Poland in the summer of 2010. I was in an improvisation class in this short course. The professor asked each student to improvise on a theme they think of that moment. First thing that came to my mind was Chopin's Fantasy imprompto. Each participant improvised for around 2 to 4 minutes. I was carried away with myself and played for more than 10 minutes!!! after the first 4 minutes of my improvisation, one pianist thought that he should record whatever was left of the improvisation. After I finished the improvisation, everyone was in great silence. I only was able to smile afterwards.
I would like to have your great opinions in here and anything else you think should be said regarding this video!

PS= I started playing piano as an amateur in 2006. I started to play seriously by 2009. I am now 20 years. I study English Literature in Kuwait. I am a Kuwaiti citizen who loves classial music.[youtube]

Hi, Welcome to PianoStreet
Sweet octaves you got there 8) I heard a lot of Liszt influence in this improv.
Do they teach piano improvisation in Kuwait? How did you get yourself into doing improvisation? In North America sadly improvisation is not part of the standard curriculum in classical piano.
You'll find a wonderful community of improvisers here. ;D

Hello Mr. Quantum,
In Kuwait, we have no good music education. Therefore, we don't have improvisational classes, as well any professional classical music education (although there is one, yet their curricuulum is of the standard of a 6th grade musician in Europe or anywhere else!!!!!)
As to improvisations, I swear to you that I have no idea how I do it. I just simply....DO IT!!! The professors in Poland were amazed. Especially taking into considertion that I have not yet studied the TRUE music theory and any general musical education. I simply know the notes and their values, and how to read a score well!!! I know basically most of the musical notations and most of the italian definitions "Thanks to Dr. Google" :)

How do you do that " two hand arpeggio" at 1:23 and what scale was that as 1:30?

Hi - that's a very floral interpretation of a very colourful piece. Nicely done sir, and I had a look at your other videos, very impressive.

countrymath,
I would like to answer you, but I have no idea what happens when I am improvising. To put it simply -and I am not kidding- I have no idea what I do while improvising. I only realized what I have been playing after I saw the video. There is another post in here with another improvisation of mine which could be of interest to you. Thank you!
oliversadie,
I am thankful for your kind words. These simple comments are the reason I continue to improvise and play the music! Thank you once again!!!
