Anyone know anything about this piano technique method? It is taught in the UK so I would be participating via Skype. My goal would be learn a freer technique and learn to relax in order to play without the risk of injury.
My main concerns are: Does this really work? and can it work over Skype?
Any thoughts?
Here is an excerpt from the site:
"Piano-Yoga® radically improves technique and unblocks tension. The method promotes noticeable progress on the piano by utilizing the principles of movement, gravity and breathing thus forming a more organic approach towards piano playing. It can also be used as a stress management technique."

Haven't been through that. I can only say that we already had some topics before on this forum that made me suspicious:
Increasing your hand span (https://www.pianostreet.com/smf/index.php?topic=46530.0)
New Piano Playing Technique (https://www.pianostreet.com/smf/index.php?topic=37912.0)

Thanks for referring to those previous links, Paul. I'd be interested to hear any feedback on that method too.
On a related note, Penelope Roskell, a professor of piano at the Trinity College of Music in London is also an advocate of yoga for piano playing. However, I have no idea how much, if at all, the two teachers overlap in their approach.

Well, yoga in itself is very useful if you have the right attitude. The only suspicious thing is when the advertisements start promoting never-seen heights of perfection through such exercises. It's nothing more than stretching your fingers to get a cat-like flexibility, so you are ready for the real work.
P.S.: Personally, I have a site in my bookmarks (favorites) that has nothing to do with piano playing. It's called Finger Yoga (https://fingeryoga.com/) and I use those exercises extensively. But it's NOT something I would advertise or recommend anywhere.
And I also like this exercise: Finger Stretches for Lumbricals and Interosseous Muscles of the Hand (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJsU2bed6FM). It would be irresponsible, though, to advertise that as the key to piano playing.

Yes, I agree, there seems to be rather too much advertising on the internet on acquiring good technique: The Russian Technical Regimen, the Bottazzi Technique, the Taubmann Technique, Piano Yoga, etc, etc. These days any professional pianists can earn a bit of extra income simply by inventing fancy names to something which is probably quite standard in the training of a pianist.

ok, so that seems like a scam, then.

I wouldn't relax too much.... That's a major problem with some of these "techniques".
