Title: New to Piano old to guitar
Post by: uber on July 12, 2012, 01:34:32 AM
I'm looking for opinions/advice on some piano books for an adult beginner. I've been playing guitar for quite a while and I'm looking to start on piano. I know some theory but not a lot and I'm looking to make improvements there.

I'm particularly interested in jazz piano but classical is all good too. I'm primarily a rock guy on guitar but I like a range of stuff.

I'm wondering if the Jimmy Amadie books are a good place to start, or would my time be better spent elsewhere?

I would highly recomend the Alfred series right here,  This link goes to the jazz page.

I am a guitarist, too. Part of me really wants to learn how to play piano, but I need to keep my long nails to play classical guitar lol.

Thanks I'll check that out.

I keep the nails just barely long enough so I can still use them a bit, but for the most part I use a pick :)
