Title: Chopin - Prelude Op. 28, No. 7 in A major
Post by: perprocrastinate on November 12, 2012, 03:55:23 PM
There is something more to the short and simple melody of this piece. I can't quite put my finger on it.

I feel something along the lines of nostalgia but also melancholy. It's as if the piece is saying "Look at all those childhood memories in your life, now you're old; you've had your happiness in this life, it's time to go."

I wouldn't be able to 'actually' relate, because I've barely even made a dent into my lifespan (hopefully), but does anyone else feel the same way?

Good old Chopin, always so intriguing.

Hello,

I really like this Chopin piece, too. Although it is very short, it is able to give its clear and complete meaning to us.
The truth is that I've never thought of this rendition of the piece. However, it has always been making me feel nostalgia and melancholy. It evokes memories from the past, when I was a little girl and used to enjoy (really enjoy!) listening to classical music in my grandparents house!...
But, actually, I don't agree that it say "it's time to go". I find it being a little bit pessimistic. On the contrary, I believe that the message is "ambition" and "optimism".
What do you think?

Perhaps you have not yet looked at the opening of the Ballet "Les Sylphides".
Just check out Utube, it might inspire you even more about this little prelude.
