*playing some Rachmaninoff*
Stupid fat ugly janitor: Hey kid, you can't be in here.
Me: But I'm here all the time, and my music theory teacher said it was okay.
Stupid fat ugly janitor: Well then he knows better.
Me: Fair enough.
*I go to the band room*
Stupid fat ugly janitor: Come on dude, you can't be in here!
Me: I'm here every freaking day!!! >:(
Stupid fat ugly janitor: If I see you again in a place you're not supposed to be, I'm calling security.
Me: Fine... >:( >:( >:(
*goes to the auditorium*
Stupid fat ugly janitor: Yeah, security come to the auditorium.
Security guard: Oh it's this kid again? What the *** are you doing here? Go home!
Me: Are you *** kidding me?!?!! I'm here every *** day!!
Security guard: Look, I'm not gonna ask you again. Leave. You're not supposed to be here.
Me: So I can't practice?
Security guard: All the pianos at school are off limits kid. We don't want you damaging it or anything
Me: >:( >:( >:( Are you freaking kidding me?!! What do you know about piano?! I actually know what I'm doing! leave me freaking alone.
*Security guard grabs my arm*
Me: Don't *** touch me. I can walk on my own.
Security guard: I'm writing you up.
Me: *** you.
-
LOL. What time was it? Have these guys seen/heard you practice before? You should get a note from your band teacher. And sorry for your experience but thanks for the laugh! ;D
-
Maybe he doesn't like Rachmaninoff.
Anyway, get that detention cleared. The janitor is probably pissed about his job and is taking it out on you.
-
Complain to the principal.

Complain to the principal.
You really should. Your playing over in the audition room was really great. I'm shocked at this.

NOBODY dislikes Rachmaninoff. >:( >:( >:(
Anyways, I'll let that stupid *** security guard write me up all he wants, I'm not going to that detention. Even if I can't walk the stage for graduation, I'm not going to serve it.

Um, well.......
"The piano reperitoire is vast and there is no time to waste on Rachmaninoff"
-Alfred Brendel
"I don't know why you guys had me do Rachmaninoff, you could have choosen something DECENT!"
-Andrie Gavrilov
"It's Okay....It's not at all the greatest music ever written
and lacks depth"
-Janina Fialkowska
"The Rachmaninoff 3rd concerto is no where near the artistic heights of the Beethoven 4th"
-Horacio Guttierez
....There's a LOT more of where that came from
-
Um, well.......
irrespective of who or how many people say something, a wrong idea is still a wrong idea.

That may well be so, but your original assertion was that no-one had that idea.

sorry, I couldn't think of a good way of wording it.

It's not worth it. Stand up for yourself, but consider your priorities.

I like that he stands up for his beliefs. And the consequences aren't really bad in any way, either. It's not like he's going to jail.

Standing up for his beliefs would be complaining to his principal and music teacher. Missing graduation because he skips detention isn't standing up, it's choosing the flak he cops.
-
I assume missing graduation is just walking on stage to shake the principals hand and receive a diploma holder. This is just symbolic.
But I agree that he should complain to the principal and music teacher.
-
just make a big mess.. you know so he's got less time to complain and do his job.
and also revenge/childish something or other

Aaaaw come on, do I have to?!
-
Aaaaw come on, do I have to?!
No. But what are you planning to do about the situation?
-
The janitor's job is to clean the place. The music teacher's job is to guide a music student including giving permission to use music equipment. This should be brought to the music teacher who will know who to talk to in order to clear these things up. Why not let the proper people know so that they can straighten this out? School equipment exists for helping students learn - not as decor.
-
Talk to the principal. If you have some sort of student council, make friends and bring them along.
Make the situation known to student groups, even those not associated with music. How would a sports team feel if they were kicked out of facilities by a janitor?
Is there some sort of parent association? Get them involved.
In other words, make lots of noise and get other people to support you, especially people with high authority.
The next time you are practicing, run a recording machine the whole time. If you get kicked out again, and the person is abusive, you have evidence.

This reminds me of the time I worked at a HS and the principal was a lying douche bag. He said things and conveniently forgets he said them; he said things and said he didn't say them; he said things and said he said something else. It got so bad that I started writing down every conversation we had so I could document exactly what he lied about and when. One time, I went to his office and I turned on the recording feature on my phone so that I could document what he was going to lie about next. Unfortunately, it didn't pick up much sound because my phone was in my pocket.
-
Okay so I'm not getting my report card this semester if I don't serve my detention.
No big deal, in the event I fail my calc final and the class, my parents won't see.

I've noticed that. A lot will do things in speaking and won't put anything in writing. I had one principal tell me they made a point to do that. Nothing in writing so they can't get sued.

Because of that Connecticut shooting, I can't even play in the schools practice rooms.
-
Well, if you bring a gun, you can claim it was for protection from dangerous shooters. ;D
Sorry about that. Can you still practice during school hours?

Yeah, but only during lunch.
I almost failed gym last semester for ditching too many days.
-
You can fail gym? What is the world coming to...
-
You can fail gym?
Haha, you can even get the T Shirt to prove it:

-
Umm... yes, u can fail gym. I failed PE in 5th grade! :D
Did I care? Nope. Grades weren't emphasized when I was young. I still don't know how I got an F considering I did everything that was asked of me. I just assumed it was a mistake on the teacher's part.

If you fail a single gym class, you have to retake it or else you can't graduate in the state of Illinois.
-
At least they have their priorities right. ;D
