Title: How to keep your concentration on the top when you're playing
Post by: elenka on March 05, 2013, 02:41:28 PM
Hi

have you ever felt while playing somenthing in your head that keeps you totally concentrate on
music you're playing you feel like you're only one thing with your piano. It happens to me but very rarely because most of the time when I play I ensure that all the notes are right and the passages that comes later, but when im sure at 100% I'm totally involved with the music and I feel inside like a heat that helps me playing with all the emotions the pieces requires...don't think i'm crazy but i'd like to know if you know a website where you can find article about phsyco-emotive factors that condition you when you  play

It's not easy to find any advice on how to concentrate when performing. There are a few bits in 'The Inner Game of Music', but I'm not totally convinced by what it has to say.

I've read about "flow" in fact, I think there is a book titled "Flow" which was published in the last 5 years.

I think it can be achieved not only in playing the piano but in other areas as well.

One the wonderful things about playing the piano is that to play well (just my observation) you have to have that pure concentration and focus..which is less valued in an age of multitasking.
