Title: Tips before learning?
Post by: hibikiyamada on March 19, 2013, 03:10:49 PM
I apologize if this is the wrong forum, I'm entirely new here.

Recently, I decided that I want to learn the Piano, and I found out that there's a studio that offers Piano lessons 3 minutes away from where I live. However, I don't own a Piano/Keyboard, but I figured that wouldn't be an issue since I'll just be starting out, but I'd rather not take the chances and find out that I need one right from the start, so I'll ask you guys. Do I need one right from the start or can I wait to see if I actually like it at the studio?

If I do, do any of you mind if you can help me find some keyboards or something that's decent for a relatively cheap price? Thanks in advanced.

Help with selecting suitable keysboards or a used piano even woud be better addressed in the Instrument Forum at this same site. However, there has been a ton of info already put out on this topic so you might do a search first/as well.

The lessons and instruction part of your message is best addressed here at this forum with some added and more specific questioning directed specifically at teachers in the Teaching Forum possible as well.

I'll start by saying, call the school and see what the requirements are. I don't know how large or organized the place is that you will get your lessons from  but they surely will have some answers for you about the requirements for your first few lessons. You certainly will go home and need to practice ( or practice someplace anyway) and depending on their program it may be right from the very first lesson.

See you in the Instrument Forum !!
