I wonder what is the history of clowns?  Are court jesters their ancestors?

My favourite clown; I found this film rather endearing and funny and bought the DVD.

There is a place just like "the barrens" near us, and when our son was little I used to amuse him by doing Pennywise imitations - "They all float down here !" - during our walks to the zoo. Other people seemed a wee bit frightened of me though. Beep beep Georgie !

Sorry, Ted, I didn't watch because he looks too scary even with his face mostly hidden behind the play button!  "We all float down here" became a popular, comical thing to say in our household ... but I don't know how we picked it up (we watched something, but I'd be surprised if it were a Stephen Kind movie).
