Title: the definition of piano literature

Hi everybody,

I'm a foreigner and just got a little puzzled here on the word "literature" in the phrase "piano literature". Because I see some school's examination has such a subject called piano literature. Who can show some example or to define it in detail?

Usually "piano literature" just refers to music written for piano.
