Rachmaninoff Prelude in C# Minor
OR
Chopin "Grande Valse Brillante"

If I were the adjudicator of LACHSA, I wouldn't care so long as the repertoire is well prepared and played with finesse. Sadly to say that both pieces are often not well-presented. If you want to impress, play also the corresponding fugue to the prelude.
Good luck.
PS. "Waves" by Bloch is a wonderful piece. Too bad you were not into it. Likewise, Rach's Elegie. :(

I'd rather hear you play something you relate to and through which you have something to say. The actual piece is immaterial.
