Title: Chopin concerto in E minor 1st mvt (solo)
Post by: hakki on September 08, 2013, 11:22:41 AM
This is my brother (who is an amateur pianist also) playing the first movement solo part.

We recorded this on my piano and I got his permission to post it on piano forums.

He is eager to hear what others think about his performance.

hi Hakki!

Though I am not a pianist but merely a part of the adoring public ... I must say I immensely enjoyed the performance of your brother.  So clean, musical and expressive!!!  He plays like pro!!! Thank you for posting.

Emill

btw the recording is excellently done.

I think he plays very well. Some good tone and expressive nuance!

For me, he hasn't quite got the rhythmic feel that the piece calls out for. There are times when it sounds a bit rushed to my ears, and lacks the broad, expansive phrasing that I would like to hear.

Certainly he is a highly accomplished player.  I enjoyed hearing his take on the piece!

He certainly has the idea of the piece, besides a couple mistakes near the beginning of the piece, the overall quality is very nice! I feel like he is cheating a bit on the coda though, the trills in the left hand at the part seem to mainly consist of him just playing a minor second instead of a longer trill. Agreeing with awesom_o, I feel that a few portions were too rushed, and for me, a few portions were too slow, if he can work these things out, then the piece will be very lovely.

Thanks emill, awesom_o, complexpiano for taking the time and for your kind comments.

I hope my brother will register in soon and discuss the points of improvement in detail personally.
