Really hard to say, but he does have a few several pieces that garner the most attention in his oeuvre. That would be:
Grand Polonaise
Op. 64 No. 1 and 2
Polonaise Op. 40 No. 1, 53
Nocturne Op. 9 No. 2, Op. 27 No. 2, C#minor post
Fantasie Impromptu
Etudes,,err butterfly and black keys
-
Piano concerto #3
Liebestraum
Hammerklavier
Theme from "The Godfather"
-
what is Chopin's most popular piano work?
Must be the A section of his etude "Tristesse" (op. 10 no 3):

i doubt it. Ask anyone on the streets if they recognise that piece, and they'll say no. On the other hand, play the first theme of his funeral march, then probably yes.

I think you and I define the word "popular" differently. :)

Uh, some of those are not Chopin's!
-
The most popular Chopin piece among pianists would be quite
different from that of the "General Public".
For the general public and based on the number of "views" in YouTube
it would be Fantasie Impromptu, hands down.
This will be followed by ballade No. 1

I can't help myself sometimes.
The thread title is strange, "most popular" has nothing to do with opinions.
Let's quantify by Yahoo search results-
"Chopin Etude op 10 no 1" = 2,210,000,000
"Chopin Etude op 10 no 12" = 3,820,000
"Chopin Etude op 10 no 3" = 911,000
"Chopin Fantasie Impromptu" = 441,000
"Chopin Ballade in G minor" = 236,000
"Chopin Funeral March" = 233,000
"Chopin Revolutionary Etude" = 184,000
As you can see, these numbers make no sense and are completely useless.

YES! Who nailed it?
That's right, I did!

Someone is going to kill me for this, but Chopsticks.

Chopin did not write Chopsticks! That popular tune was written by Euphemia Allen

My bad. Though it was Chopin for some reason.

I guess depends on what you call the tune. If you call it Tati Tati ( popular children's theme) then credit can go to any number of the Russian bad a$$e$.
Originally a paraphrase (24 variations and 15 small pieces and finale) for piano, later orchestrated and now the more popular and performed version....
