Title: Why is it so hard to find sheetmusic for haydn piano concertos?
Post by: forte88 on June 26, 2014, 01:10:37 PM
Some of his pcs are sheer magic, but there's a very limited offering even if you're willing to spend money for which is very rare for me, but even then...it's ridiculous!

perhaps because many others are also not willing to support publishers and the ancillary business related to production and distribution of scores.  if there is little financial reward, it does not make sense from a business perspective to invest in and undertake the expense to bring it to market only to then not have a return on that investment.

I think the most 'enjoyable' or at least 'listenable' are available online, the rest are early works which are not as high quality as those.

The whole lot are available (or should I say was available) from Henle in one large volume. Was over £100 if memory serves.

Bloody expensive and the value of some are doubtful.

Have you got a link? I searched their site for it and couldn't find it...

Old copyrights of previous publishers(Haydn's been died for over 200 years)should be available for general use, yet not even publishers who sell sheet music have got very much to offer when it comes to Haydn piano concertos

Seems to be about the same price that I paid.

Thanks for that. I can't believe one of my favourites isn't included 18 2???
It's only 18 3/4/11 right?
What's the sheetmusic like, do all instruments have their own sheet music or does each page have all the instruments on it? Fingering etc included?

Cannot remember I'm afraid. Bought it years ago, looked at a couple of them and then filed the whole thing in my not interested pile, which is in my loft.

Maybe it is not by Haydn, a spurious work. I have pm you a link to a Doblinger publication.
